From 2005 to 2016, US President Bill Clinton convened a conference to motivate governments, foundations, and the private sector to act upon the world’s most pressing challenges. FiveCurrents sculpted a summit with a simple requirement: participants needed to stand in front of their peers and make a commitment to action as a condition of their attendance, and fulfill their commitment in order to return. Over the years, 3,600 commitments were made impacting people in 180 countries.
