The 2015 Special Olympics World Games was the largest event to take place in Los Angeles since the 1984 Olympic Games. FiveCurrents was honored to produce the Opening and Closing Ceremonies to recognize the real superstars of LA 2015: the athletes. The celebration culminated with U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama declaring the Games officially open, kicking off a fireworks display with the intensity to match the excitement of the athletes and their families as the Games began.

As Executive and Creative Producers, FiveCurrents launched the first-ever Ceremonies for the inaugural European Games. The Games were broadcast to more than 500 million people, and built a cultural connection between Europe and Azerbaijan and its capital city Baku.
The Ceremonies told a universal human story, using Azerbaijani elements in a way that was contemporary, inventive, and playful.

FiveCurrents has a long and glorious history with the Pasadena Tournament of Roses Parade. At the turn of the Millennium, we produced the first-ever human float, a mammoth spectacle with 2,000 participants, for the parade’s opening show. We returned in 2005 with Cinderella’s Castle, a float created entirely of roses.
In 2014, the Rose Parade asked FiveCurrents to produce Opening and Closing Spectaculars based on the theme “Dreams Come True,” winning a Telly Award in the process. In 2015, FiveCurrents returned as producer and creative director of the Opening and Closing Spectaculars, themed “Inspiring Stories” highlighting the people making a difference in the community.

FiveCurrents produced the annual Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Awards, a moving event broadcast on NBC Sports Network and Universal Sports Network. Performers representing each of the Olympic Games five continents shared traditional dance and musical numbers to commemorate the gathering of the 206 National Olympic Committees from around the world.

The team at FiveCurrents created Olympic Medals Plaza, the focal celebration site for the 2002 Olympic Winter Games honoring the newest Olympic heroes by presenting them with their medals. Olympic Medals Plaza was the hottest ticket at the Salt Lake 2002 Games with the year’s biggest headline talent lineup, including the Dave Matthews Band, Foo Fighters, Sheryl Crow, Goo Goo Dolls, Alanis Morissette, Justin Timberlake, Macy Gray, Marc Anthony, and Barenaked Ladies.

For Super Bowl Saturday Night, FiveCurrents transformed a city park into an electric venue for 50,000 fans to enjoy an unforgettable night of entertainment. Hosted by actor Jerry O’Connell, Super Bowl Saturday night merged live entertainment and a love of gridiron sport into an amazing night with performances by the Counting Crows and others.
